The ice crystals crackles in thousands. Knife sharp scratches do fresh cuts on a shiny untouched surface. Its a special experience to skate  in a frozen landscape. To feel the fast breath, get the heart to beat and see the out hailing air form beautiful clouds of steam. Long narrow lakes framed by majestic pine forest. Vertical cliffs which dramatic descends in narrow straights. A tickling feeling in the stomach and an unreal feeling. A feeling about walking on water

"The Nature Reserve Malingsbo-Kloten is one of my ice skating favorites. The possibilities for both long and short excursions are great when the ice conditions are right. The lakes offers a big variety and the nature is very nice"

110 km ice skating along long and winding lakes

High hills and deep valleys surround a long stretch of lakes and offer stunning views. Steep cliffs descend dramatic into the lakes along narrow stretches. The Nature Reserve Malingsbo-Kloten in northern Västmanland is one of the biggest Nature Reserves in Sweden. The reserve is located high and the wilderness has by history been kept in peace from an aggressive civilization. Due to this fortune the nature is intact and the wildlife rich. Hear we have a lot of moose, deer and beaver but also lynx, wolf, bear are to be found (the animals are shy and not dangerous). The beautiful and untouched nature is classified as central Europe's closest wilderness. 2,5 hours journey (200 km) by car or train from the Swedish capital Stockholm. Here we have an amount of good ice skating trails and ski tracks. The reserve is very well looked after and you will find plenty of rest areas with shelters and firm fireplaces. Wintertime the reserve is well-known for a lot of snow and thick ice
