HOWLING
WOLFS CAN BE HEARD AT NIGHT The Nature Reserve Malingsbo-Kloten in
southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland
is one of the biggest Nature Reserves in Sweden. High
hills and deep valleys surround a long stretch of paddling water with steep cliffs descend dramatic into the water
along narrow stretches. The wilderness is located
high and the wildlife is rich. Here we have a
lot of moose, deer and beaver but also lynx, wolf, bear are represented.
The chance to see lynx, wolf and bear is very small because the animals
are in low number and are very shy. Sometimes
howling wolfs can be heard at night. Moose, deer and beaver are more
common. The reserve is one of the most moose populated areas in the world.
None of the animals are dangerous The beautiful and untouched nature
is classified as central Europe's closest wilderness. 2,5 hours journey
(200 km) by car or train from the Swedish capital Stockholm. The Nature
Reserve has
an amount of good canoe, bicycle and hiking trails and is very
well looked after. There are big number of rest areas with rain and
wind shelters with firm fireplaces. Nordic Discovery's activity center is located in the small village
Kloten between Skinnskatteberg and Kopparberg along road 233. Maps and road
