CANOES & KAYAKS 

The canoes and kayaks are founded in the strong hard plastic material polyethylene. Nordic Discovery offer 40 canoes, 16 single kayaks and 4 double kayaks

The kayaks are stable sea kayaks with broad waist constructed to manage big waves and strong wind in sea conditions. The single kayaks are comparably a little bit smaller and without rudder. A perfect adaptation in order to fit the canoe trails in Bergslagen. The Double kayaks are of standard size and with rudders. The canoes have three seats and holds two adult and a small child before school age. To have a dog in the middle will also work. How to pack ? The kayaks have waterproof space in the front and in the back. Recommended is to pack in plastic bags when drops of water can enter. In the canoes packing in waterproof bags are to prefer (available for rent). The packing space in a kayak is limited compared to the packing space in a canoe

 A steady and direction steady canoe which we are very contented with. A Polyethylene canoe in sandwich construction with very small separated air cells which make the canoe firm and give a inbuilt flotation. The flotation give safety and more packing space. To be compared with canoes without inbuilt flotation with flotation blocks of foam blocking the packing space in the front and in the back. The modern material has proved to be superior compared to the older materials. The material with the many advantage is chosen by most canoe rentals which started their business in the 2000-century. The canoe is seaworthy for two adults and one child up to 5 years

"We where very selective when we choused material. The Priority was to find a canoe which everyone can paddle. I am 194 cm tall and can not enter the cockpit in approximately  60 % of the kayak brands on the market. The kayak should even be able fit a tall person who also put on many extra kilos. A kayak founded in Polyethylene with 2 waterproof containers. The hull is round to flat with sharp stem and stern which give a very direction steady kayak. The packing volume is sufficient for many days excursions. The water proof containers holds 105 liter. As a reference this is equal to a big hiking backpack. The cockpit holds approximately 60 liter more. In the cockpit it is recommended to pack in water proof sacks (available for rent). Equipped with soft back support, feet support with many firm options and net on the stem

Prijon Excursion

 A very direction steady double kayak of high class. The kayak is recommended for couples when one part feel uncomfortable with kayak paddling and for families when the children are too young to paddle in their own kayak. In both cases the perfect way to do something active together on the same terms. In the example both paddlers get a good excursion when the potential irritation problem as waiting can cause not exist. Instead this is something you really do together, a recommended alternative for a successful introduction to paddling and excursions in the nature. We have seen many examples of skeptic paddlers who has been introduced to paddling with the help of a double kayak with very good success. WE ARE UNEVEN NUMBER OF PADDLERS - WHAT TO DO ?  

The most common question to a Canoe Center is: How can everyone paddle when we are an uneven number, is it necessary to drop somebody back home ? The answer is no. The salvation is the sea kayak and all hesitations concerned to kayak paddling are explained under the next head line. To paddle as planned in canoes and add one kayak is an excellent option and a golden opportunity for all in the group to try kayak paddling

HOW STEADY IS A SEA KAYAK ? 

Some people are unwarranted skeptic to kayak paddling. The bad reputation comes from the time before the sea kayaks turned up on the market. Before only competition kayaks existed, kayaks which are constructed in a completely different way compared to the sea kayak. A competition kayak is constructed to be as fast as possible with as little resistance as possible. Therefore the waist is extremely small and because of that the stability very bad. The sea kayak offers the opposite qualities. A kayak with broad waist in order to give as much stability as possible. A sea kayak is a kayak everyone can paddle without previous experience and the kayak is at least as stable as the traditional canoe (the Canadian canoe).
